KISS have confirmed the rumors that their new album will be called Monster.

The monstrous confirmation came from the band’s own demon, Gene Simmons, who told Classic Rock magazine that the album sounds heavier than 2009’s Sonic Boom. “It feels like a connection between Destroyer and Revenge,” Simmons said.

Simmons told DJ JC Green of Alfa Rock 105.7 FM that the album featured straight rock songs, no ballads, no keyboards, “just rock … just the band doing what it did on the first three records; write the songs ourselves. Once you know who you are and how you breathe – because every song is like an animal – you try to bring life to the song so it becomes real. Once you know who you are, it’s easy to do – just do what the animal does without thinking about what’s popular, what a producer would do.”

The album is currently being recorded in Los Angeles for a 2012 release, to be followed by a 2012-13 world tour. Like Sonic Boom, Monster is produced by Paul Stanley.

From Wiki:

Monster is the 20th studio album from Kiss which will be released January 2012. While previously rumored to be named "Revolution", the album's official title was confirmed by KISSONLINE.com on August 21, 2011 to be "Monster". The album was recorded at Conway Recording Studios in Hollywood, CA throughout 2011 and produced by the band's co-founder and lead singer Paul Stanley and co-produced by Greg Collins, as was 2009's Sonic Boom.

Stanley has revealed that the album cover art will be stylistically similar to that of Destroyer and Love Gun, although painted by a different artist. According to an interview with lead guitarist Tommy Thayer, the band had the intention of creating an album with a slightly heavier sound than Sonic Boom, as well as recreating the vibe that existed on the band's earlier material. Similarly, Gene Simmons has likened the album to a combination of three of the band's previous albums, Destroyer, Revenge and the album's predecessor Sonic Boom.
